Mom is the New Sexy

Because power is sexy and today’s moms are powerful, controlling $8.5 trillion in annual consumer spending—or three-quarters of the U.S. economy. But not only is “Mom the New Sexy,” moms are “The New Geeks” too, as the top early adopters of new technology, driving billions of dollars in new product and market innovation, reshaping the American economy in ways equal to the Renaissance or the Industrial Revolution.

At times of historic change comes historic opportunity. THE MOMMY MANIFESTO will show you how to get your share, before the train leaves the station!

38 million women with children control $8.5 trillion in consumer spending--three quarters of the American economy. Be afraid, be very, very afraid.

What? Are you kidding me?

Forty-five years after the first women’s revolution, women still only make up 3 percent of top CEO’s, earn only 75 percent of wages of men, and are 40 percent more likely to be living in poverty.

No wonder women are starting businesses in record numbers

Fed up with a corporate world that penalizes them for being both women and mothers, and gender inequities that are getting worse, women are beginning to take control of their financial destinies by starting their own businesses. Not only are there 11 million women entrepreneurs in this country, making up 40 percent of all businesses, but women are starting businesses today at twice the rate of men. Today’s business titans of the old economy are afraid of us and are simultaneously looking to us to show them the way to new money-making opportunities. They’re counting on us not realizing that the only thing separating us from them is our self-doubt, while they try to figure out how to keep opportunity in the hands of the few. They’re counting on women to not recognize the power they have to dramatically affect this precarious situation.

So what’s stopping us?

Is it just going to take more women to have faith? Or is it a simple matter of confidence? Do we need to turn off the internal dialog telling us we can’t do it, and believe in ourselves instead? What is the internal dialog in women’s heads anyways nowadays, and who’s programming it? Maybe we need to replace “lose weight, be pretty, lose weight, be pretty, lose weight,” with “kick butt, knock down doors, stand up for ourselves, be smart, take what’s ours.” Maybe we should figure out what we need to do to get our fair share, and program that in instead.

There are a hundred books out there telling women about all the stupid mistakes we make to mess up our lives, our marriages, our jobs, our diets, our money. At every supermarket checkout there are a hundred magazines telling us to be skinnier, prettier, richer, sexier, better dressed, with perfect homes and better cooking skills. Where are the books and magazines telling us we’re already skinny and pretty enough? Where are the books and magazines telling us how to be richer, better dressed, with better decorated homes by owning our own businesses and economic futures? Where are the books that tell us that our measure of success as mothers is not how clean and well-decorated our house is, but how happy our kids are?

Enough with telling women they’re not good enough!

This world does not need one more book or magazine or voice telling women they don’t measure up so that somebody can make a profit selling them diet pills, cleaning supplies, wrinkle cream, or even books.

It’s no wonder women find it tough to succeed when they bring all this baggage to the brink of opportunity and have to compete with men who don’t have all this self-defeating attitude pre-programmed into them. Speaking in a vernacular I’ve learned from years in the male-dominated world of business, getting to the top demands such incredible fortitude, such Heroic nerve, such balls out, balls-to-the-wall, ball-busting, brass balls confidence that even a moment’s hesitation in the race to each day’s finish line can result in failure. (Just for a minute, try to think of any analogies to boobs that symbolize strength, courage, or that you could even say aloud in a boardroom, where I’ve heard all these male images spouted.)

We’re the architects of this New Economy.

It’s time for us to take our share! Don’t call us feminists, call us boss! We’re not asking for a job. This is a new way of living, and we’re bringing our kids with us this time. Consider this a cannonball fired across your bow.

Hello Mom's, I am so excited about this website that I have encouraged others to take a look, and make changes in their financial situations by taking charge. I have been looking for things to do on the internet for about 3 years now, and have not found the right fit yet. But I hope by networking with this site would give me some hope, as to what to do, when being a homemaker is tough now, when its so neccessary to have a 2 income home. So if this site can share with me some possible jobs, so that I can make life easier for my family that would be so fantastic! Have many talents, and idea's..... and talent children as well!

I am so glad I found this site! I have been looking for something like this for months. As a divorced mom of 3 boys, I was laid off from my job and decided then and there I didn't want to let anyone else have control of my destiny anymore. Thanks for having this community of support and inspiration.

What a beautiful site, and beautiful message. It really is wonderful to see so many mothers and women standing up together unified, determined to make tomorrow a better place not only for ourselves but our children. I too have begun my own life mission and am hoping to acheive all my goals and aspirations before my 30th birthday. As a mother of 5 I know all too well the challenges faced by mothers, parents and females in general.

Best wishes to everyone on their future goals.

OMGoodness! That was fantastic! I was raised by a single mother who forced herself all the way to the glass ceiling in the oil industry of Alaska. Watching her turn around in her late thirties and tell me it wasn't worth it changed my life as your video demonstrated. Now her and I sew reusable grocery bags from my home studio with my children running around enjoying both their grandmother and mother! Your video message is needed and I'm adding it to our site where we have our retail shop and six blogs! Thank YOU!!!

Hi Kim -

I just heard about your book & I can't wait to buy it! I am a single mom with a 7 yr old. I've been working full time since I've been divorced(daughter was 1 year when I went back to work). I had an office job that I had to work at until the "regular" 5,6,7pm time. I hated everyday of feeling the guilt knowing my daughter was picked up by my parents, sat in daycare and living in a 1 bedroom apartment with my 6yr old....etc. I felt as if I could do something about it, but had no money in the bank, so there was no option....
Eventually, I became a medical asst & somehow worked part time. I was selling clothing that I made on my own to friends & made a few calls to stores & I somehow convinced them/gave them no choice to see my few designs. Eventually, I realized that these "little" appointments at the upscale boutiques were bringing in more money a month than my part time job working for a urologist. I left the job and took the hugest risk of my life & taking the chance that I would have NO income or job. No one thought it was a good idea. Well, 1 year later, I'm in my own home, selling to 40 retail stores and exhibiting at the largest children's trade show in March. I'm letting any mom know, that if I can do it(with no support), any strong mom can accomplish anything. I feel such empowerment that I can take my daughter to dinner and not worry that my card will be declined, I feel strong.

I can't wait to read:)

Aloha Kim! I, too, am a small business owner, mom, wife, cubmaster, and so on, and so on, and so on (you all know what I mean!)! I just bought your book and started reading it right away. You are right, we should dictate what goes on, because we hold the power in our hands. Thank you for sharing all that you know. I know it will help me, and all the other women of the world. I am passing on the word! Mahalo Nui Loa (Thank You Very Much- In Hawaiian)!!!

Hi Kim,

Like all the other women, I saw you on the Mike and Julliet show. I didn't plan to watch the Mike and Julliet show. In fact, I had never heard of them. The TV was just on, keeping me company while I picked up around the house. But when I heard you start talking about turning your kitchen idea into a marketable product, I started paying attention because I've been getting my product ready for the market for 3 years. Then, as soon as I focused on the program, you were gone, a commerical came on, and some other guest was seated in your chair. I was so disappointed, but I waited to the end of the program, hoping to learn how I could find you. Then Juliet announced that if viewers wanted to learn more about today's guests, they should go to the Mike and Juliet website, which I did. I saw the name Mommy Millionaire. I googled you, went to your webiste, and read everything I could. Then I went to Barnes and Nobles in Richmond, Ca and bought the last copy of Mommy Millionaire on the shelf. Was I lucky. I wuv, wuv, wuv your book Kim, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the information you are provding to women. This book has been so incredibly helpful to me, and I'm not even finished reading it. I've been telling all my friends who are entrepenuers about it, and if there had been more copies on the shelf that day, I would have bought at least three. Kimmi, you are shizzznit! Thank you a million times, Mommy Millionaire:)

Bravo! You Go Girl! another voice rises up out of the wilderness and shouts "GLASS CEILING MY ASS!!!" Great post, Good video. Women who are starting their own businesses...don't let ANYONE get in your way. My wife has a book you should own to help guide you along the way. See it at and see our program at where 90% of our students are Women who we are helping achieve great success in business. We want to help you as well. - Michael ( A man who just so happens to be in touch with his feminine side and believes NO WOMAN should be slowed or stopped in what she wants to achieve). And damn proud of that!
